Key Words and Their Meanings:
- لَن تُغْنِيَ عَنْهُمْ – will never avail them, nor protect them, nor ward off anything from them.
- مِّنَ اللَّهِ شَيْئًا – anything from Allah’s punishment or His decree.
- أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ – the companions of the Fire, i.e., its permanent dwellers.
- خَالِدُونَ – abiding forever, never leaving.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, the Most High, declares that those who reject faith—who disbelieve in His signs and deny His messengers—will find that their wealth and their children will be of no benefit to them whatsoever against Allah. Neither their vast fortunes, nor their powerful tribes, nor their beloved offspring can shield them from Allah’s punishment in this world or the next. Their money cannot be offered as a ransom, and their children cannot come to their aid or intercede for them. On the contrary, these very things—wealth and children—will only increase their regret and sorrow when they realize how utterly powerless these worldly attachments are in the face of Allah’s justice.
Moreover, these disbelievers are the companions of the Fire. They will enter it and remain therein forever, never to leave, and never to find any escape. This is the ultimate consequence of turning away from the truth and rejecting the guidance that Allah sent through His prophets.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this profound truth: the things we often pride ourselves upon—our money, our status, our families—are all temporary and utterly incapable of saving us on the Day when only faith and righteous deeds will matter. How many wealthy people have died leaving all their riches behind? How many powerful leaders have been humbled by death? And how many parents, despite their deep love, could not protect their children from illness, calamity, or death?
This verse invites you to redirect your heart toward what truly lasts: belief in Allah, love for His Messenger ﷺ, and sincere obedience to His commands. These are the treasures that will accompany you to the Hereafter and intercede for you when nothing else can. Do not let the glitter of this world deceive you, for it is fleeting, while the Hereafter is eternal. Choose now, before death overtakes you, to be among those who will be honored in the Gardens of Delight, not among the companions of the Fire. Allah’s mercy is vast, and His door of repentance is open—so turn to Him today, and you will find Him Forgiving and Merciful.
