- Tubawwi’u (تُبَوِّئُ): You assign, station, or position.
- Maqa‘id (مَقَاعِد): Positions, stations, or posts (literally "seats" or "places of standing").
Explanation of the Verse:
O Prophet, remember and reflect upon the moment when you left your home in Madinah early in the morning, fully prepared for battle, heading toward Mount Uhud to confront the forces of disbelief. You were not merely a leader giving orders from a distance—you personally went among the believers, positioning each one in their designated place for combat, organizing their ranks, and ensuring that every soldier knew exactly where to stand and what role to play. You were both a commander and a caretaker of your army, moving among them with wisdom and precision, instilling order and confidence in their hearts.
And Allah—glorified and exalted be He—was fully aware of everything that transpired. He heard every word spoken, every consultation held, every command given, and every supplication made. He knew every action taken, every step moved, and every intention held within the hearts of the believers. Nothing escaped His knowledge—not a single whisper, not a single movement, not a single thought.
This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer: that our actions, our words, and our intentions are never hidden from Allah. Just as the Prophet ﷺ carried out his duty with complete sincerity and meticulous care, knowing that Allah was watching and hearing, so too must we live our lives with this awareness. When we work, when we speak, when we plan, and when we strive—whether in matters of worship, family, or society—we should remember that Allah is *Samee‘* (All-Hearing) and *‘Aleem* (All-Knowing). This awareness elevates our deeds from mere routine to acts of devotion, and it protects us from carelessness and hypocrisy.
Moreover, this verse highlights the beautiful character of the Prophet ﷺ—his humility, his hands-on leadership, and his deep care for his companions. He did not send others to do the difficult work while he remained behind; rather, he was in the forefront, organizing, encouraging, and leading by example. This is the model of leadership that Islam presents: a leader who serves his people, who is present with them in times of hardship, and who guides them with wisdom and mercy.
So, dear believer, take from this scene a lesson in sincerity, in awareness of Allah, and in the spirit of unity and organization. Know that your Lord hears your words and sees your deeds, and that He rewards even the smallest act done with pure intention. Let this knowledge fill your heart with hope and your actions with excellence, for Allah is with those who strive in His cause, and He never lets the reward of the doers of good be lost.
