Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Kafaroo (كَفَرُوا): Those who disbelieved and rejected the truth.
- Adhaban shadeedan (عَذَابًا شَدِيدًا): A severe and painful punishment.
- Nasireen (نَاصِرِينَ): Helpers, supporters, or protectors who could rescue them.
Tafsir (Explanation):
After Allah Almighty mentions the fate of Prophet 'Isa (Jesus, peace be upon him) and the honor bestowed upon him, He now turns to address those who rejected the truth concerning him. Allah declares that those who disbelieved—whether they were the Jews who denied his prophethood and accused him falsely, or the Christians who exaggerated his status and elevated him to divinity—will face a severe punishment in both realms of existence.
In this worldly life, their punishment manifests in various forms: humiliation, defeat, killing, captivity, loss of power and wealth, and the stripping of their dominion. History bears witness to this—the disbelieving Jews were subjected to disgrace and subjugation, and those Christians who strayed into extremism faced division, weakness, and repeated calamities. Their false beliefs brought them no honor but rather led to their downfall.
In the Hereafter, their punishment is even greater: the blazing Fire of Hell, where they will remain forever, tasting the most intense torment. And on that Day, they will have no helpers, no protectors, no intercessors who can shield them from Allah's punishment. No wealth, no power, no allies will avail them anything.
This verse carries a profound warning for every soul that rejects the truth after it has become clear. It reminds us that Allah's justice is absolute—He does not overlook disbelief, nor does He leave the wrongdoers unpunished. Yet, at the same time, His mercy is vast for those who turn to Him in sincerity and faith.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, ponder deeply upon this divine promise. The One who created the heavens and the earth, who holds all affairs in His Hands, has made it clear that disbelief carries consequences—both in this life and the next. But He has also opened the door of repentance and guidance to all who seek it. Do not let pride or stubbornness keep you from the truth. Embrace faith with a sincere heart, and you will find peace in this world and salvation in the Hereafter. The choice is yours, and the time is now.
