Surah Yasin — Verse 36

• Al-Azwaj (الأزواج): Pairs, kinds, or species.
• Subhan (سُبْحَانَ): Glory be to Allah; declaring Him free from all imperfections and defects.
• Mimma tunbitu al-ard (مِمَّا تُنبِتُ الْأَرْضُ): From what the earth grows, such as plants, fruits, and vegetation.
• Wa min anfusihim (وَمِنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ): And from themselves, meaning male and female.
• Wa mimma la ya'lamun (وَمِمَّا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ): And from what they do not know, referring to other creations unknown to humans.

Tafsir (Explanation):

Glory be to Allah, the Exalted, who is far above any imperfection, deficiency, or partner. He alone is the Creator of all pairs and species in existence. From the earth, He brings forth countless varieties of plants, trees, fruits, and seeds—each with its own distinct characteristics, yet all paired in ways that ensure their growth and reproduction. From human beings themselves, He created males and females, establishing the foundation of life, love, and continuity. And beyond what we can see or comprehend, He has created countless other beings—creatures of the land, the sea, and the heavens—whose diversity and complexity testify to His infinite power and wisdom.

This verse calls us to reflect deeply on the world around us. Every pair we observe—in nature, in ourselves, and in the unseen realms—is a sign of Allah’s perfect design and sole sovereignty. He alone deserves our worship, for He alone has the power to create, sustain, and ordain all things. When we contemplate the harmony and balance in creation, our hearts naturally fill with awe and gratitude, drawing us closer to our Creator.

Dear reader, pause for a moment and look at the world around you. The fruits you eat, the plants that shade you, the very breath of life within you—all of these are gifts from a Creator who knows you and cares for you. He did not create all of this in vain; rather, He created it as a sign for those who reflect. So let your heart turn to Him in gratitude and submission. Acknowledge His greatness, and let this recognition lead you to worship Him alone, for He is the One who deserves all praise, and His mercy encompasses everything. Indeed, in every pair and every creation, there is a lesson: that Allah is the only God, and His wisdom is beyond measure.
