Word Meanings:
- سَبَقَتْ (Sabaqat): Preceded, went forth beforehand, or was decreed in advance.
- كَلِمَتُنَا (Kalimatunā): Our Word — referring to Allah’s decree, promise, or command that has been firmly established.
- لِعِبَادِنَا الْمُرْسَلِينَ (Li’ibādinā al-Mursalīn): For Our servants, the Messengers — the prophets whom Allah chose and sent to guide humanity.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse is a profound declaration of Allah’s eternal promise and unchangeable decree. It states that long before the events of this world unfolded, Allah’s Word had already gone forth — a decree that cannot be altered, reversed, or contested — concerning His chosen servants, the Messengers. This promise is that they will be granted victory over their enemies, both through the power of clear evidence and proof, and through tangible strength and support. The verse assures that the soldiers of Allah — those who strive in His cause — will ultimately prevail and be triumphant over their adversaries in every situation, with the final outcome and ultimate end belonging to them.
This is not merely a historical statement about past prophets; it is a living, ongoing reality. The promise of Allah to His Messengers extends to their true followers — those who uphold their message, carry their banner, and fight for the cause of truth. The victory may come in different forms: sometimes immediate and visible, sometimes after patience and hardship, but it is guaranteed by the One whose Word never fails. The triumph is twofold: victory by argument and evidence (overcoming falsehood intellectually) and victory by power and strength (overcoming oppression practically). This ensures that the religion of Allah will always rise, and His word will always be supreme.
A Call to Faith and Action:
Dear believer, let this verse fill your heart with unshakable certainty. Allah’s promise is not like the promises of men — it is absolute, eternal, and infallible. When you stand for truth, when you strive in His path, when you carry the message of the prophets in your words and deeds, you are part of that blessed group whose victory is already decreed. Do not look at the apparent strength of falsehood or the temporary setbacks of truth. Look instead at the end — the final outcome that Allah has guaranteed. The prophets faced trials, persecution, and apparent defeat, yet in the end, they triumphed. Their enemies were humiliated, and their message spread across the earth. The same promise applies to you. So hold firm to your faith, trust in your Lord, and know that the Word of Allah has already been spoken — and His Word is the ultimate truth. Be among the soldiers of Allah, and you will be among the victorious, in this life and the Hereafter.
