Surah As-Saffat — Verse 170

• فَكَفَرُوا بِهِ (They disbelieved in it): The pronoun "it" refers to the Qur'an brought by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). "Kufr" here means outright rejection and denial of the truth despite its clarity.
• فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ (They will soon know): A stern warning of an inevitable consequence — they will come to realize the gravity of their error, either in this world or on the Day of Judgment.

Explanation of the Verse:

Before the advent of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), the disbelievers of Makkah used to claim: "If only we had a scripture like those of the earlier nations, we would surely be the most devoted servants of Allah." Yet, when the Qur'an — the most complete, most noble, and final revelation — was sent down to them through the best of all messengers, they turned away in arrogance and disbelief. They rejected the very truth they had once longed for. This verse exposes their hypocrisy and false pretenses, and then delivers a decisive warning: they will soon come to know the bitter outcome of their rejection. That knowledge will dawn upon them when they face the severe punishment of the Hereafter — a moment when regret will be of no avail.

How often do we find ourselves promising devotion to Allah when we lack something, only to neglect His guidance when it is placed before us? This verse is a mirror for the soul. The Qur'an is not merely a book to be recited; it is a living message calling every heart to its Creator. Do not be like those who, when truth came to them, turned away. Embrace this divine gift with sincerity, for the One who sent it knows what lies within your heart. Let your faith be a response to His mercy, not a reaction to circumstances. The warning in this verse is real, but so is the door of repentance — open it before the knowledge of regret becomes your only companion.
