Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Yawm (يوم): Day.
  • Al-Waqt (الوقت): The appointed time, a specific moment determined by Allah.
  • Al-Ma‘loom (المعلوم): The known, the well-defined, the one decreed in Allah’s eternal knowledge.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this verse, Allah continues His reply to Iblees (Satan), who had arrogantly asked for a respite from punishment until the Day of Resurrection. Allah grants him a limited extension, saying: “Until the Day of the time known” — meaning the first blast of the Trumpet (Sur), when all creation will die. This is not an eternal reprieve, nor a pardon; it is merely a postponement to a fixed, appointed moment that only Allah knows precisely. That moment is the first trumpet blast, which will bring an end to this worldly life and mark the beginning of the final reckoning. After that, Iblees will have no power, no escape, and no hope — only the severe punishment that awaits him and his followers.

This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer. It reminds us that Allah’s justice is perfect and His timing is precise. No matter how long evil seems to thrive in this world, its days are numbered. The respite given to Satan is not a sign of weakness on Allah’s part, but rather a test for humanity — a chance for us to choose righteousness over falsehood, and to prove our faith through patience and obedience.

Dear reader, reflect on this: if the greatest enemy of mankind, with all his cunning and whispers, is bound by a single, known deadline, then how much more should we, as believers, trust in Allah’s promise? Every trial you face, every temptation you resist, and every hardship you endure is part of a greater plan. The time of reckoning is coming — a day that is known to Allah, a day when truth will triumph and justice will prevail. So hold firmly to your faith, seek refuge in Allah from the whispers of Satan, and strive for that eternal success which never fades. Indeed, the promise of Allah is true, and His timing is always perfect.
