Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- كَذَبَ عَلَى اللَّهِ (fabricated lies against Allah): Attributing to Allah what is not befitting of Him, such as claiming He has a partner, a child, or falsely claiming to receive revelation.
- بِالصِّدْقِ (the truth): The Qur'an and the message brought by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
- مَثْوًى (dwelling place): A permanent abode and resting place.
Tafsir (Explanation):
There is no one more unjust or oppressive than the one who invents lies against Allah — attributing to Him what is not worthy of His majesty, such as claiming He has a partner, a son, or a wife, or falsely asserting that revelation has come to him when nothing was revealed. Such a person commits the gravest form of injustice, for they distort the very image of the Creator in the minds of people and lead them away from the truth.
Equally unjust is the one who rejects the truth when it reaches them — the Qur'an and the message of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) — without even reflecting upon it or giving it due consideration. They turn away from clear guidance and prefer falsehood over what is evident and undeniable.
Then Allah poses a rhetorical question that carries both a warning and a confirmation: "Is there not in Hell a dwelling place for the disbelievers?" Indeed, there is! The answer is an emphatic "Yes." Those who persist in their lies against Allah and their rejection of His truth will find their final abode in the Fire — a place of humiliation, torment, and eternal loss.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on the weight of this verse. The greatest injustice a human being can commit is not against another person, but against their own soul — by lying about Allah and rejecting His truth. Yet, Allah in His infinite mercy has opened the door of repentance for every sinner, no matter how great their sin. He calls you to return to Him before it is too late. The truth has come to you clearly; do not let pride or stubbornness prevent you from embracing it. For the same Hell that awaits the disbelievers is a reminder that Allah's justice is perfect — and His mercy is even greater for those who turn back to Him sincerely. Embrace the truth today, and you will find a dwelling place far better than anything this world can offer: the eternal gardens of Paradise, where peace and joy await the believers.
