Word Meanings:
- Takhtasimoon (تَخْتَصِمُونَ): You will dispute, argue, and contend with one another, each party presenting its case against the other.
Explanation of the Verse:
After the previous verse affirmed that the Prophet (peace be upon him) and all people will inevitably taste death, this verse directs our attention to what comes after that great transition. Allah says: *"Then indeed you, on the Day of Resurrection, before your Lord, will dispute."*
This means that after death and resurrection, all of humanity—believers and disbelievers, oppressors and the oppressed, the truthful and the false—will stand before their Lord and engage in disputes over the matters they differed upon in this worldly life. Every wrong that was done, every right that was violated, every dispute that remained unresolved will be brought forth. The one who was wronged will present his case, and the one who wronged will have to answer. The truthful will be distinguished from the liar, and the oppressor from the oppressed.
On that Day, the judgment will not be based on power, wealth, or influence as it often is in this world. Rather, it will be a judgment of absolute justice from the Lord of all worlds—the One who knows every hidden intention and every secret deed. No argument will be lost, no evidence will be overlooked, and no one will be treated unjustly.
This verse carries a profound reminder for every soul: the disputes of this world—whether over rights, wealth, honor, or beliefs—are not the end of the matter. There is a greater court, a higher tribunal, where the ultimate verdict will be rendered. The One presiding over that court is none other than your Lord, who is perfectly just and never wrongs anyone even by the weight of an atom.
So, dear reader, let this truth settle in your heart: every person you have wronged, every right you have taken, every word you have spoken unjustly—all of it will be brought forth on that Day. But equally, every good deed, every kindness, every act of justice you performed will also be presented. Therefore, hasten to make amends in this world before that Day arrives, seek forgiveness from those you have wronged, and strive to be among those who will stand with a clear conscience before their Lord. For on that Day, the truth will shine brightly, and nothing will remain hidden.
