Translation — Tafsir

Key Words and Meanings:

  • Shahīd (شَهِيدًا): A witness; one who testifies with full knowledge and truthfulness.
  • Min kulli ummah (مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ): From every nation or community that has existed throughout history.
  • Hā’ulā’ (هَٰؤُلَاءِ): These people — referring to the Prophet’s own nation (the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ) and, by extension, all those who witnessed his message.

Explanation of the Verse:

Imagine the Day of Judgment — a day of absolute truth and ultimate justice. On that day, Allah will summon every prophet from every nation to stand as a witness over his own people. Each prophet will testify about how he delivered the message of Allah, and how his people responded — whether they accepted or rejected it. There will be no denial, no excuse, and no escape from the truth.

Then comes the most profound moment: Allah will bring you, O Muhammad ﷺ, as a witness over your own nation — and indeed over all the nations that came after you — confirming that you conveyed the message of Islam in full, with clarity and sincerity. Your testimony will stand as a living proof against those who disbelieved and a glorious honor for those who believed and followed you.

This verse strikes awe into the heart: how will people feel when their own prophets testify against them? How will they face the consequences of their choices? It is a call to reflect — before that day arrives — on our relationship with the Prophet ﷺ, on our adherence to his teachings, and on our readiness to be among those whom he proudly witnesses for, not against.

A Da’wah Reflection:

Beloved reader, this verse is not merely a warning — it is an invitation. The Prophet ﷺ will be a witness for his Ummah, and he longs to see you among those who followed him with love and sincerity. Every prayer you offer, every kindness you show, every step you take toward Allah is a testimony of your faith that will shine on that day. Do not let this moment pass without renewing your connection to the Messenger of Mercy ﷺ. Read his biography, follow his Sunnah, and strive to embody his character — so that when he stands as a witness, he will smile upon you and intercede for you. The path is clear, the witness is noble, and the reward is eternal. Will you not be among those who make him proud?

📜 Verse 39-43 — An-Nisa

And what [harm would come] upon them if they believed in Allah and the Last Day and spent out of what Allah provided for them? And Allah is ever, about them, Knowing.
Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] as much as an atom's weight; while if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.
So how [will it be] when We bring from every nation a witness and we bring you, [O Muhammad] against these [people] as a witness?
That Day, those who disbelieved and disobeyed the Messenger will wish they could be covered by the earth. And they will not conceal from Allah a [single] statement.
O you who have believed, do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying or in a state of janabah, except those passing through [a place of prayer], until you have washed [your whole body]. And if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and find no water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and your hands [with it]. Indeed, Allah is ever Pardoning and Forgiving.
