Word Meanings:

  • Manāfi‘ (مَنَافِعُ): Multiple benefits, utilities, and advantages.
  • Ḥājah fī ṣudūrikum (حَاجَةً فِي صُدُورِكُمْ): A need or desire that resides deep within your hearts and minds—something you aspire to achieve.
  • Al-Fulk (الْفُلْكِ): Ships and vessels that sail upon the sea.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this profound verse, Allah reminds us of His boundless mercy and wisdom in creating livestock—camels, cattle, sheep, and goats—and subjecting them to our service. These animals are not merely for one purpose; rather, they provide us with a multitude of benefits that renew and expand across every era. From their wool, fur, and hair, we obtain clothing, tents, and furnishings. From their milk, we derive nourishment and health. From their meat, we gain sustenance. And from their very strength, we are granted the means to carry our heavy burdens across vast distances.

Allah specifically highlights that through these animals, we are able to fulfill the needs that lie hidden in our hearts—the deep-seated desires to travel, to trade, to visit loved ones, to seek knowledge, or to reach distant lands for livelihood and worship. These are not trivial matters; they are genuine human aspirations that Allah, in His infinite kindness, has facilitated for us. He did not leave us stranded in the wilderness, nor did He burden us with impossible journeys. Instead, He provided us with riding animals that carry us across the deserts and plains, and He also provided ships that carry us across the seas.

This verse invites us to reflect: if Allah has so meticulously arranged for our physical journeys and material needs, how much more does He care for our spiritual journey toward Him? The same Lord who placed in these animals the strength to carry us, and who made the seas navigable for our vessels, is the Lord who guides us through the darkness of ignorance to the light of faith. Every time we mount an animal or board a ship, we should remember that it is Allah who carries us—both physically and spiritually—and we should turn to Him in gratitude and submission.

A Call to Reflection and Gratitude:

Dear reader, pause for a moment and consider the countless blessings that surround you. The very animal that carries your goods, the vehicle that transports you, and the ship that sails you across the ocean—all are from the mercy of your Lord. He did not have to make these things subservient to you, but He did, out of His love and generosity. This is a sign for those who think deeply and a proof for those who seek the truth. So let your heart overflow with thanks, and let your tongue utter praise for the One who has made all of this possible. And remember that the ultimate journey is the one that leads you back to Him—so prepare for it with faith and righteous deeds, for He is the One who carries you in this world and will carry you to His eternal mercy in the Hereafter.

📜 Verse 78-82 — Ghafir

And We have already sent messengers before you. Among them are those [whose stories] We have related to you, and among them are those [whose stories] We have not related to you. And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign [or verse] except by permission of Allah. So when the command of Allah comes, it will be concluded in truth, and the falsifiers will thereupon lose [all].
It is Allah who made for you the grazing animals upon which you ride, and some of them you eat.
And for you therein are [other] benefits and that you may realize upon them a need which is in your breasts; and upon them and upon ships you are carried.
And He shows you His signs. So which of the signs of Allah do you deny?
Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn.
