Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, reminds us here of a profound truth through the story of Prophet Moses (peace be upon him). Just as He sent down the Torah to Moses, He sent down the Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). And just as the people before differed over the Torah — some embracing its light, others rejecting it in arrogance — so too do the disbelievers of Makkah differ over the Qur’an.
Yet, Allah does not hasten His punishment upon them. Why? Because a decree has already been set by your Lord — a promise that the final judgment between truth and falsehood will take place on the Day of Resurrection. Had it not been for this prior decree, the matter would have been settled right here in this world: the believers would have been vindicated, and the disbelievers would have been destroyed instantly.
And despite all the signs, proofs, and miracles, these people remain in a state of restless doubt about the Qur’an — a doubt that unsettles their hearts and keeps them wandering far from the truth.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on the mercy of Allah. He gives us time — not because He is unaware, but because He is patient and desires our return to Him. The Qur’an is not a book of uncertainty; it is a beacon of certainty. The doubt that clouds the hearts of the disbelievers is not due to any flaw in the message, but due to the sickness within their own souls.
Let this verse inspire you to hold firmly to the Qur’an, to seek its guidance with a sincere heart, and to thank Allah for the clarity He has granted you. For while others remain in doubt, you have been blessed with the light of faith. Do not waste it — let it transform your life, and let your heart find peace in the remembrance of Allah, for truly, in His words lies the ultimate cure for every doubt and every unease.
