Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "Awrathnaha" (وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا): We caused them to inherit it, meaning We transferred ownership and possession of these blessings to others.
- "Qawman akhareen" (قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ): Another people, specifically the Children of Israel (Bani Isra'il), who came after Pharaoh and his nation.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse follows the description of the fate that befell Pharaoh and his people—how they were drowned in the sea after years of tyranny, arrogance, and denial of Allah's signs. The phrase "Thus" (كَذَٰلِكَ) refers to the manner in which Allah dealt with them: a severe punishment for those who reject the truth and persist in transgression. It is a declaration that this is how Allah deals with those who disobey Him and turn away from His guidance.
Then Allah says: "And We caused another people to inherit it" (وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ). The pronoun "it" refers to the abundant blessings that Pharaoh and his people once enjoyed—their gardens, springs, crops, treasures, and luxurious dwellings. These were not merely lost or destroyed; rather, Allah transferred them to a new people: the Children of Israel, who had been oppressed and enslaved by Pharaoh for generations. After Pharaoh's downfall, the Israelites inherited the wealth and lands of their former oppressors, as a manifestation of divine justice and a reward for their patience and faith.
This inheritance was not just material—it was also a sign of Allah's power to elevate the humble and humble the mighty. The same people who were once powerless slaves became the heirs of the very empire that had sought to annihilate them. This serves as a powerful reminder that Allah alone controls the fate of nations, and that no tyrant, however strong, can escape His judgment.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer. It reassures us that no matter how long oppression seems to prevail, Allah's justice will ultimately triumph. The story of Pharaoh and the Israelites is not merely history—it is a living proof that Allah never abandons those who trust in Him. When you see injustice in the world, remember that Allah's promise is true: He will grant victory to the patient and the righteous, and He will strip the arrogant of their power.
Moreover, this verse invites us to be grateful for the blessings we have, and to use them in obedience to Allah rather than in arrogance and denial. The blessings of this world are temporary and can be taken away in an instant, but the reward of the Hereafter is eternal. Let us learn from the fate of Pharaoh and his people, and strive to be among those who inherit not only the blessings of this world but also the everlasting gardens of Paradise. May Allah make us among His grateful servants and grant us success in this life and the next.
