Tafsir (Explanation):
Have these disbelievers not traveled through the earth and witnessed with their own eyes what befell the nations before them? They passed by the ruins of 'Ad, Thamud, and other peoples who rejected their messengers — yet they did not take heed. Allah destroyed those nations completely: their homes were leveled, their wealth was lost, their children perished, and their very existence was erased from the face of the earth. Nothing remained of their power or glory.
This is not merely a story of the past — it is a living lesson and a stern warning. For every disbeliever who persists in rejecting the truth, there awaits a punishment similar to what those earlier nations suffered. The destruction that befell them was not because Allah wronged them, but because of their own stubbornness and arrogance in the face of clear guidance.
The verse carries a profound message for humanity: history repeats itself for those who refuse to learn from it. The ruins of ancient civilizations stand as silent witnesses to the consequences of disbelief and disobedience. When you see the remnants of once-mighty empires that have crumbled to dust, let it remind you that worldly power is fleeting, and only faith and righteous deeds endure.
Dear reader, this is an invitation to open your heart to the truth before it is too late. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has shown you the fate of those who came before so that you may avoid their path. He does not wish to destroy you — He wishes to guide you. The door of repentance remains open, and His mercy encompasses all things. Do not wait until the punishment arrives, for then it will be too late to return. Take heed of these signs, and let them draw you closer to your Creator, who alone deserves your worship and obedience.
