Surah Muhammad — Verse 27

Explanation of the Verse:

The question is not seeking information; rather, it is a powerful call to reflect. It says: If their condition in this life is already one of arrogance and heedlessness, then what will their condition be at the very moment of death? At that time, the angels of punishment will descend upon them, not with mercy, but with iron rods. They will strike their faces—the most honored part of a human being, the part that bears the light of faith—and their backs, as a sign of utter humiliation and disgrace. These are not gentle taps; they are painful blows that accompany the extraction of the soul, making their departure from this world a torment in itself.

This scene is a stark contrast to the death of the believer. For the righteous, the angels descend with peace and reassurance, saying: "Do not fear and do not grieve, and receive good tidings of Paradise." But for these sinners, the angels come with severity, and their final moments are filled with terror and pain.
