They deliberately followed paths that incurred Allah's wrath: embracing disbelief, hypocrisy, and hostility toward Allah and His Messenger, and concealing the truth they knew. At the same time, they despised and detested what brings Allah's pleasure—faith in Him, obedience to His commands, and righteous deeds such as charity, maintaining family ties, and striving in His cause. Because their hearts turned away from what pleases Allah and clung to what angers Him, Allah rendered their deeds utterly void. Their acts of charity, kindness, or any apparent good were stripped of reward, as they were built on a corrupted foundation of disbelief and ill intent. This is a powerful reminder that the acceptance of deeds depends not only on their outward form but on the faith and sincerity of the heart.
