Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Qawwāmīn (قَوَّامِينَ): Those who stand firm and persist in upholding something, constantly and consistently.
  • Shuhadā’ (شُهَدَاءَ): Witnesses who testify with fairness and truth.
  • Qisṭ (الْقِسْطِ): Justice, equity, and fairness in all matters.
  • Yajrimannakum (يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ): Let it not drive you or incite you.
  • Shan’ān (شَنَآنُ): Intense hatred, enmity, or deep-seated aversion.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O you who have truly believed in Allah and His Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him)! Stand firm and unwavering in upholding the rights of Allah, seeking His pleasure alone, and be witnesses for justice in every situation — whether the testimony is for or against yourselves, your relatives, or others. Do not let the hatred of any people — even those who oppose you — push you into abandoning justice and acting unfairly toward them. Justice is a duty that must be upheld with everyone, friend and foe alike. Be just, for justice is the closest path to God-consciousness (taqwa), and it draws you nearer to Allah’s acceptance. Injustice, on the other hand, only distances you from Him and leads to ruin.

So be fair with both your allies and your enemies, for if justice is required even with those who harbor enmity toward you, then how much more so with your fellow believers? And fear Allah in all your dealings — obey His commands and abstain from what He has forbidden. Indeed, Allah is fully Aware of all that you do; nothing escapes His knowledge, and He will reward or recompense you accordingly.

This verse is a profound call to embody the highest moral standard: that justice is not conditional upon personal feelings, but is an absolute obligation rooted in faith. It teaches us that true strength lies not in retaliating with injustice, but in remaining upright and fair even when tested by hatred. Let this be a beacon for you — a reminder that Islam elevates justice to an act of worship, and that through it, you draw closer to Allah and attain His love. So be among those who stand for truth, for Allah is with those who are just and righteous.

📜 Verse 6-10 — Al-Maidah

O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and wash your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful.
And remember the favor of Allah upon you and His covenant with which He bound you when you said, "We hear and we obey"; and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts.
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Acquainted with what you do.
Allah has promised those who believe and do righteous deeds [that] for them there is forgiveness and great reward.
But those who disbelieve and deny Our signs - those are the companions of Hellfire.
