Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Sulṭānin mubīn: A clear, manifest proof, authority, or evident miracle that leaves no room for doubt.

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this verse, Allah draws our attention to another profound sign in the story of Prophet Musa (peace be upon him). When Allah sent him to Pharaoh—the tyrant ruler of Egypt—he was equipped with a clear, undeniable proof: the miracles of the staff turning into a serpent and the shining hand, among other signs. These were not mere tricks or illusions, but decisive evidences of Allah’s power and the truth of Musa’s message.

This sign is a lesson for those who fear the painful punishment of Allah. It demonstrates that no matter how powerful or arrogant a tyrant may become, Allah’s truth prevails, and His messengers are always supported with what proves their sincerity. Pharaoh, however, in his pride and delusion of strength, rejected this clear proof and dismissed Musa as either a sorcerer or a madman—a classic response of the arrogant when faced with undeniable truth.

The verse reminds us that Allah’s signs are not limited to one time or place; they are scattered throughout history for those who reflect. The story of Musa is a beacon of hope for the oppressed and a warning for the oppressors. It shows that Allah never leaves His messengers without support, and His justice is inevitable.

Da‘wah Reflection:

Dear reader, this verse invites you to open your heart to the signs of Allah around you and in the stories of the past. If you fear Allah’s punishment and long for His mercy, then take heed of these lessons. The same Allah who supported Musa with clear miracles is alive today, watching over His creation. He has sent you the greatest miracle—the Qur’an—as a living guide. Will you not reflect on its verses and respond to its call? The path of truth is clear, just as it was for Musa, and the doors of repentance are open for every soul that turns back to its Lord. Do not let pride, like Pharaoh’s, blind you from the truth that leads to eternal success.

📜 Verse 36-40 — Adh-Dhariyat

And We found not within them other than a [single] house of Muslims.
And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment.
And in Moses [was a sign], when We sent him to Pharaoh with clear authority.
But he turned away with his supporters and said," A magician or a madman."
So We took him and his soldiers and cast them into the sea, and he was blameworthy.
