Word Meanings:
- Fīhimā (فِيهِمَا): In both of them — referring to the two gardens promised to the righteous.
- Min kulli fākihatin (مِن كُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ): From every kind of fruit.
- Zawjān (زَوْجَانِ): Two kinds, or two varieties — a pair of each type.
Explanation of the Verse:
In these two magnificent gardens that Allah has prepared for His righteous servants, there is not just one type of fruit, but rather every kind of fruit exists in two varieties. This means that for each fruit you can imagine — whether fresh or dried, sweet or subtly different in taste and texture — there are two distinct kinds to enjoy. The mention of "two" here highlights the abundance, diversity, and perfection of what awaits the believers. It is not a single, limited offering, but a rich and varied bounty that satisfies every desire and exceeds every expectation.
This verse comes right after describing the two gardens with their springs, branches, and shades, and it paints a picture of complete bliss. The believer will find in Paradise fruits that are unlike anything seen in this world — fruits of infinite quality, taste, and beauty, each available in pairs so that the soul’s longing for variety is fully met. Some scholars note that one of the two kinds may be fresh and the other dried, or one known to us and another unknown — but all of it is a gift from the Most Merciful, prepared out of His infinite generosity.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear brother and sister in faith — imagine a place where no fruit is missing, where every bite brings joy, and where you will never tire of what you taste. This is not a distant dream; it is a promise from the One who never breaks His word. Allah, the Most Merciful, has opened the doors of these gardens to anyone who turns to Him in sincerity, who prays, who gives charity, who controls their tongue, and who strives to please Him. So let this verse awaken in your heart a longing for Paradise — and let that longing move you to action today. Every good deed you do, no matter how small, is a seed that will grow into the fruits of eternity. Do not let this world deceive you with its fleeting pleasures, for what Allah has prepared is far greater and everlasting. Seek His mercy, and He will grant you a place among those who will taste these fruits and say, with hearts full of gratitude: "Praise be to Allah who has fulfilled His promise to us."
