📖 English Meaning
Or do you have a scripture in which you learn
📜

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Kitāb (كِتَابٌ): A revealed scripture or divine book.
  • Tadrusūn (تَدْرُسُونَ): You study, read, or learn from it repeatedly.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse is a powerful rhetorical challenge from Allah to those who deny the truth and claim that the obedient and the disobedient will be treated equally. Allah asks them, in a tone that exposes the emptiness of their claims: "Do you have a revealed Book from the heavens in which you study and learn that the righteous and the wicked will receive the same reward?"

The answer, of course, is an emphatic "No!" No divine scripture has ever taught such a thing. Every revealed Book—from the Torah to the Gospel to the Quran—has consistently affirmed that there is a clear distinction between those who obey their Lord and those who defy Him. The idea of equality between the two is a human invention, born of wishful thinking, not divine revelation.

This verse invites every sincere soul to reflect: If you claim something contrary to what all prophets have brought, where is your proof? A true believer, when faced with this question, immediately recognizes that the only source of ultimate truth is the revelation of Allah, and that His justice is perfect—rewarding the good and holding the wicked accountable.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse is a beautiful reminder of the fairness and wisdom of Allah. It reassures the believer that their efforts in obedience are never wasted, and it warns the negligent that they cannot escape accountability by mere assumptions. Islam is a religion of clarity and evidence—it does not ask you to follow blindly, but invites you to reason, to reflect, and to find the truth in the revealed Word of Allah. Let this verse inspire you to turn to the Quran, the ultimate Book of guidance, and study it with a sincere heart. For in it, you will find the answers that bring peace to the soul and success in this life and the Hereafter.

📜 Verse 35-39 — Al-Qalam

Then will We treat the Muslims like the criminals?
What is [the matter] with you? How do you judge?
Or do you have a scripture in which you learn
That indeed for you is whatever you choose?
Or do you have oaths [binding] upon Us, extending until the Day of Resurrection, that indeed for you is whatever you judge?
