Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Hamīm (حَمِيمٌ): A close relative, a near kin, or an intimate friend who cares for one’s welfare and would intercede or offer help in times of distress.

Tafsir (Explanation):

On that Day—the Day of Judgment—this disbeliever will find himself utterly alone and abandoned. No close relative, no beloved friend, no one who once stood by him in the world will be present to shield him from the torment. Every bond of kinship and companionship that he relied upon in his earthly life will be severed, and no one will step forward to defend him or lighten his suffering. The verse paints a stark picture of isolation: the very people he may have trusted, loved, or depended upon will be powerless to aid him, and he will face the consequences of his denial with no intercessor and no refuge.

This is a profound reminder that worldly connections, however strong they may seem, are fleeting and ultimately useless in the Hereafter. What truly matters is one’s relationship with Allah—built through faith, obedience, and sincere repentance. The disbeliever who rejected the truth and persisted in arrogance will find that all his worldly support vanishes in an instant, leaving him face-to-face with the justice of Allah, alone and without hope.

Da‘wah Reflection:

Dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. Today, you may have family, friends, and loved ones around you—but none of them can save you on the Day when every soul will stand before its Lord. The only true protector and helper is Allah, the Most Merciful, who opens the door of repentance to you right now. Do not wait until that Day when no friend can avail you. Turn to Allah today, embrace His guidance, and secure for yourself a companionship that will never fail you—the love of Allah and the company of the righteous in the eternal gardens of Paradise. The Qur’an is your guide; let it lead you to a success that no worldly bond can ever guarantee.

📜 Verse 33-37 — Al-Haqqah

Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great,
Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.
So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend
Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds;
None will eat it except the sinners.
