Explanation of the Verse:
On the Day of Judgment, after the people of the Heights (al-A‘rāf) have looked upon the inhabitants of the Fire and recognized them, they turn to the arrogant disbelievers—those who in the worldly life looked down upon the poor and weak believers, mocking them and swearing arrogantly that Allah would never bestow His mercy upon them. These disbelievers, such as the likes of Walīd ibn al-Mughīrah and Abu Jahl, used to say with contempt: "These poor souls will never enter Paradise; Allah will never show them any mercy."
So, on that Day, the people of the Heights point to the believers—who were once despised for their poverty and simplicity, like Salmān, Suhayb, Khabbāb, and Bilāl (may Allah be pleased with them)—and say to the disbelievers with a tone of rebuke and exposure: "Are these the ones about whom you swore that Allah would never grant them mercy? Look at them now! They are being honored and admitted into Paradise, while you stand in humiliation and regret."
Then Allah, the Most Merciful, turns to those righteous believers and addresses them with the most beautiful and reassuring words: "Enter Paradise! No fear shall be upon you, nor shall you grieve." This is a divine declaration of complete peace and security. They will have no fear of what lies ahead—no punishment, no reckoning, no hardship—and no grief over what they missed in the worldly life, for they have attained the ultimate success and eternal bliss.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer. It teaches us that true honor in the sight of Allah is not measured by wealth, status, or worldly power, but by faith, sincerity, and righteousness. The people whom society may mock, overlook, or despise for their simplicity could be the very ones whom Allah has chosen for His mercy and Paradise. Never underestimate the value of a humble believer, for Allah looks at the hearts, not the appearances.
Let this verse also be a source of immense hope and comfort for those who feel weak, poor, or marginalized in this world. Allah sees your struggles, your patience, and your devotion. He has prepared for you a reward that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can imagine. The disbelievers may laugh today, but the believers will rejoice forever in the Gardens of Delight.
So, hold firm to your faith, be patient in adversity, and never let the arrogance of others shake your trust in Allah’s mercy. For the promise of Allah is true, and His mercy encompasses those who believe and do good deeds. May Allah make us among those who are told on that great Day: "Enter Paradise! No fear shall be upon you, nor shall you grieve."
