Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Wa fawākiha (وَفَوَاكِهَ): Fruits of every kind and variety.
  • Mimmā yashtahūn (مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ): Whatever their souls desire and long for, without any restriction or limitation.

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this blessed verse, Allah describes the delights that await the righteous in Paradise. After mentioning the cool shades and flowing springs, He adds that they will have fruits of every kind—fruits that their hearts crave and their souls yearn for. This is not merely a provision of basic sustenance; it is an abundant, luxurious bounty tailored to each person's deepest desires. Whatever fruit they imagine, whatever taste they long for, it will be presented before them in perfection, free from any blemish, spoilage, or seasonal limitation.

This verse comes as part of a larger scene depicting the ultimate reward for those who feared Allah in this worldly life—those who restrained themselves from sin, obeyed His commands, and avoided His prohibitions. Their reward is not just survival or comfort; it is the complete fulfillment of every wholesome desire, in an environment of peace, beauty, and eternal bliss.

The mention of fruits specifically carries a profound message: just as fruits are among the most delightful and nourishing of earthly foods, the blessings of Paradise surpass anything we have tasted or experienced in this world. Allah is telling us that He knows what we truly desire—even what we cannot articulate—and He has prepared for His righteous servants that which no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has ever conceived.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this beautiful promise. The Creator of the heavens and the earth, the One who knows every secret of your heart, has prepared for you fruits that match your very desires. This is not a distant or abstract promise—it is a personal invitation from your Lord. He is telling you: "If you fear Me, if you obey Me, if you strive in My path, I will give you what your heart desires, and far beyond that."

This verse should fill every believer with hope and longing. It reminds us that the sacrifices we make in this world—the prayers we offer, the fasts we keep, the temptations we resist—are not in vain. Every moment of patience in the face of hardship, every act of kindness done for His sake, every tear shed in sincere repentance—all of these are investments in a harvest of eternal joy.

So let this verse inspire you to strengthen your relationship with your Lord. Draw closer to Him through sincere worship, and trust in His promise. For He is the Most Generous, and His rewards are beyond anything our minds can fathom. May Allah make us among those who fear Him and attain these eternal delights.
