Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Samkaha (سَمْكَهَا): Its height or elevation — the vast, towering expanse of the sky above us.
  • Sawwaha (سَوَّاهَا): Made it perfectly level, balanced, and flawless — without any cracks, fissures, or defects.

Explanation of the Verse:

After reminding humanity of the Resurrection, Allah points to the heavens as a staggering proof of His power. He says: *"He raised its height and perfected it."* The sky is not a chaotic or haphazard structure — it is a magnificent, elevated canopy raised high above you, with no pillars supporting it, no cracks marring its surface, and no imperfections in its design. Its height is immense beyond imagination, yet it remains perfectly ordered and harmonious. The word "samk" refers to the towering elevation of the heavens, while "taswiyah" conveys the idea of complete balance and flawlessness — a creation so precise that it has stood for millennia without a single tear or collapse.

This verse invites you to reflect: if Allah can raise this colossal sky to such a height and make it perfectly sound, then is He not fully capable of raising you from your graves? The One who perfected the heavens with such mastery is the same One who promises to bring you back to life for judgment. Nothing is difficult for Him — neither the creation of the vast universe nor the recreation of a single human being.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Look up at the sky above you — that endless blue dome stretching beyond your sight. It has no cracks, no flaws, no collapse, despite being raised to such an incredible height. This is not an accident or a random event; it is the deliberate act of a Wise and Mighty Creator. When you witness this perfection, let your heart fill with awe and your soul with certainty. The same Allah who raised the heavens without pillars and perfected them without blemish is watching over you, hearing your prayers, and has promised you a resurrection that is even easier for Him than this magnificent creation. So turn to Him with trust, obey His commands, and never despair of His mercy — for the Lord of the heavens is also your Lord, and His power knows no limits.
