Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • أَشَدُّ خَلْقًا (ashaddu khalqan): More difficult to create, harder in formation.
  • السَّمَاءُ (al-samaa'): The sky/heavens.
  • بَنَاهَا (banaha): He built it — meaning Allah constructed it with perfection and precision.

Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah addresses those who deny the resurrection and the Hereafter, challenging their flawed reasoning. He asks them directly: "Is your creation more difficult, or the creation of the heaven?" The answer is self-evident — the heavens, with their immense size, complexity, and perfection, are far greater and more awe-inspiring than the creation of human beings. Yet, you acknowledge that Allah created the heavens, so why do you doubt His ability to recreate you after death?

The verse then mentions that Allah "built" the heaven — a construction that implies deliberate design, flawless engineering, and absolute power. This is not a random or accidental formation; it is a purposeful act of the Creator who raised it without visible pillars, perfected it without any flaw, and adorned it with celestial bodies. If Allah could bring into existence this vast, magnificent universe from nothing, then bringing you back to life after your bodies have decomposed is even easier for Him.

This rhetorical question is a powerful reminder that the One who created the heavens and the earth — a task far greater than your own creation — is absolutely capable of resurrecting you. Nothing is difficult for Him. The One who built the sky with such perfection can certainly rebuild your bodies, no matter how scattered or decayed they may become. So do not let your limited minds underestimate the infinite power of your Lord.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse invites you to look up at the sky and reflect: Who raised it so high? Who made it so vast and beautiful? The same Creator who built this magnificent universe with a single command — "Be" — is the One who promises to bring you back to life. If you trust Him with the heavens, why not trust Him with your own resurrection? Let this verse strengthen your faith and fill your heart with hope. Your Lord is not incapable of anything, and His promise of the Hereafter is true. So prepare for that Day, for it is closer than you think, and the One who created the heavens is watching over you with mercy and justice.
