Surah An-Nazi'at — Verse 5

These are the angels entrusted with carrying out divine decrees—such as regulating the affairs of creation, sustaining life, recording deeds, and implementing the divine will in the heavens and the earth. The word "amrā" (a matter) indicates that they manage not just one single affair, but a multitude of tasks assigned to them, each angel having a specific duty in the grand cosmic order.

This oath comes as a continuation of the previous verses, where Allah swears by different categories of angels—those who pull out souls harshly, those who release them gently, those who glide swiftly through the heavens, and those who race to fulfill divine commands. All these oaths serve to affirm the certainty of the Resurrection and the Day of Judgment, when all of creation will be raised and held accountable for their deeds.

The profound lesson here is that the entire universe operates under Allah's perfect management, with angels as His obedient servants executing His will flawlessly.
