Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • يَصْلَى (Yasla): He will enter it and endure its heat, suffering from its flames.
  • سَعِيرًا (Sa'iran): A blazing, fiercely burning Fire.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse paints a vivid and sobering picture of the fate awaiting those who receive their Book of Deeds from behind their backs on the Day of Judgment—those who disbelieved in Allah and rejected His messengers. After their desperate cry for destruction and ruin, they will be cast into a raging, blazing Fire, where they will taste the agonizing heat that sears their bodies and souls alike. The word "Sa'ir" conveys not just fire, but a fire that is intensely kindled and raging, leaving no room for relief or escape.

This punishment is a direct consequence of their life in this world. They lived among their families and communities, consumed by worldly pleasures and arrogance, never pausing to reflect on the purpose of their existence or the consequences of their actions. They were deceived by their own pride and the fleeting joys of worldly life, believing that they would never be resurrected or held accountable. But Allah, who created them from nothing, will bring them back to life, and He—who is fully aware of their every deed, thought, and intention from the moment of their creation until their final breath—will repay them with perfect justice.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This verse is a powerful reminder for every soul to pause and ask: *Where am I heading?* The Fire is real, and its heat is beyond anything we can imagine in this world. But the beauty of Islam is that Allah, in His infinite mercy, has opened the door of repentance wide. No matter how far we have strayed, we can turn back to Him before that Day arrives. Let this verse awaken your heart to the reality of the Hereafter, and let it inspire you to live a life of faith, humility, and good deeds. The same Allah who warns of the Fire also promises Paradise to those who believe and do right—so choose the path that leads to eternal bliss, and never let the illusions of this world blind you to the truth that awaits you.

📜 Verse 10-14 — Al-Inshiqaq

10وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ
But as for he who is given his record behind his back,
11فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا
He will cry out for destruction
12وَيَصْلَىٰ سَعِيرًا
And [enter to] burn in a Blaze.
13إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا
Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness;
14إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah].
