Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Lisa'yiha (لِسَعْيِهَا): For its striving/effort — referring to the deeds and actions performed in the worldly life.
  • Raadiyah (رَاضِيَة): Content, pleased, satisfied — a state of full approval and happiness.

Explanation of the Verse:

On the Day of Judgment, the faces of the believers will be radiant with bliss and honor. This verse tells us that these faces are pleased with their own striving — meaning, they look back at the deeds they performed in the world and find themselves completely satisfied. Why? Because when they see the immense reward Allah has stored for them — multiplied beyond their imagination — they realize that every prayer, every act of charity, every moment of patience, and every step taken in obedience was worth it all. Their hard work in the world, which may have seemed difficult or even unnoticed by people, is now displayed before them as a treasure beyond measure. They are not merely relieved; they are overjoyed and deeply content, knowing that their Lord did not waste a single atom of their good deeds.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, imagine this moment: standing before your Lord, seeing the fruits of your efforts — every hardship you endured for His sake, every temptation you resisted, every tear you shed in sincere supplication — all transformed into eternal bliss. This is the promise of Allah, the Most Merciful, to those who strive in His path. The Qur'an repeatedly assures us that Allah never lets the effort of any worker go to waste. So, let this verse ignite a fire of hope and determination in your heart. Whatever you are doing for Allah's sake today — no matter how small or unseen — is being recorded, preserved, and will be returned to you on a day when you need it most. Strive with sincerity, and you too will be among those whose faces shine with contentment, saying: "I am pleased with my striving, for I have found my Lord's reward." May Allah make us among them, and may He grant us the sweetness of this contentment in the Hereafter. Ameen.
