Surah At-Tawbah — Verse 115

Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah, in His infinite mercy and justice, would never decree misguidance upon a people after He has blessed them with guidance and faith—until He has first made clear to them what they must avoid and what duties they must fulfill. This verse addresses a profound principle: Allah does not hold people accountable for what they do not know, nor does He judge them as astray before the proof has been established upon them.

The context of this verse relates to the believers who had asked forgiveness for their polytheist relatives before the prohibition of doing so was revealed.
