Surah Yunus — Verse 64

Word Meanings:

• Al-Bushrā (الْبُشْرَىٰ): Glad tidings, good news, or joyful announcement.
• Lā Tabdīla (لَا تَبْدِيلَ): No change, alteration, or substitution.
• Kalimāt Allah (كَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ): The words of Allah, meaning His promises and decrees.
• Al-Fawz al-ʿAẓīm (الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ): The supreme success, the great triumph.

Explanation of the Verse:

For the beloved servants of Allah — those who believe and remain conscious of Him — there is glad tidings in this worldly life and in the Hereafter. In this life, their glad tidings come in the form of righteous dreams that bring comfort to their hearts, the good reputation and praise that Allah places for them among people, and the inner peace and contentment that fills their souls despite trials. When death approaches them, the angels greet them with the news of Paradise and Allah’s pleasure, and on the Day of Resurrection, they receive the ultimate joy of being admitted into eternal bliss.

Allah then assures that His promises are absolute and unchangeable — there is no alteration to His words. What He has decreed for His righteous servants shall undoubtedly come to pass, for His word is truth and His promise is certain. This is the supreme success, for it combines deliverance from every fear and hardship with the attainment of every beloved desire — the pleasure of Allah and the everlasting gardens of Paradise.

Dear believer, this verse is a source of immense hope and comfort. Allah has promised you glad tidings not only in the Hereafter but even in this very life. When you strive to be among His awliyāʾ (close servants) through sincere faith, righteous deeds, and constant remembrance, He fills your heart with tranquility, grants you peace in your affairs, and prepares for you a joy that transcends all worldly pleasures. The greatest of these glad tidings is that Allah’s promise never fails — His words are eternal and His covenant is firm. So hold fast to His rope, increase in your obedience, and let this promise be a light that guides you through every darkness. Indeed, the success that awaits the believers is not merely a reward — it is the ultimate victory that no trial in this world can diminish. Rejoice, for your Lord has already written for you a destiny of triumph if you remain steadfast upon His path.
