📖 English Meaning
And they will come out [for judgement] before Allah all together, and the weak will say to those who were arrogant, "Indeed, we were your followers, so can you avail us anything against the punishment of Allah?" They will say, "If Allah had guided us, we would have guided you. It is all the same for us whether we show intolerance or are patient: there is for us no place of escape."

Translation — Tafsir

Key Words and Phrases:

  • Barazoo (بَرَزُوا): They appeared or came forth, emerging from their graves.
  • Al-Du'afa' (الضُّعَفَاء): The weak ones—here referring to the followers who were led astray.
  • Istabkaroo (اسْتَكْبَرُوا): Those who were arrogant—the leaders and chiefs who rejected the truth out of pride.
  • Taba'an (تَبَعًا): Followers, those who obediently trailed behind others.
  • Mughnoon (مُغْنُونَ): Those who can spare or protect someone from harm.
  • Mahis (مَحِيص): Any escape, refuge, or way to flee.

The Interpretation:

On the Day of Judgment, all of creation will emerge from their graves and stand before Allah—the One, the Subduer—completely exposed, with nothing hidden. At that moment of absolute truth, the weak followers will turn to their arrogant leaders and say: "We were your followers in the worldly life; we obeyed your commands and walked in your footsteps. Now, can you spare us even a portion of Allah's punishment? Can you shield us from His wrath as you once promised us?"

The arrogant leaders will reply, but their answer will be one of regret and helplessness: "If Allah had guided us to the path of faith, we would have guided you to it as well. But we were misguided, and we led you astray. It makes no difference now whether we panic or remain patient—there is no escape for us, no refuge from His punishment, and no way to turn back."

This verse paints a vivid picture of the Day when all excuses vanish, and every soul realizes the weight of its choices. It is a powerful reminder that leadership carries responsibility, and blind following is no excuse. The followers will seek help from those they trusted, but the leaders will be powerless, and both will share the same fate.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, this scene is not merely a story of the past—it is a warning for today. Every one of us will stand before Allah, and every relationship, every influence, and every choice will be laid bare. Do not wait until that Day to realize the truth. Be among those who seek guidance from Allah Himself, who follow the light of the Qur'an and the Sunnah, and who lead others toward goodness rather than away from it. The doors of repentance are open now, but on that Day, there will be no return, no negotiation, and no escape. Let this verse awaken your heart, soften your soul, and draw you closer to your Creator, for His mercy is vast, and His guidance is the greatest treasure you can ever attain. Embrace it before the Day when patience and panic become equal, and no plea can change the decree.

📜 Verse 19-23 — Ibrahim

Have you not seen that Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth? If He wills, He can do away with you and produce a new creation.
And that is not difficult for Allah.
And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, "Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment."
And those who believed and did righteous deeds will be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein by permission of their Lord; and their greeting therein will be, "Peace!"
