Word Meanings:

  • Kalimah Tayyibah (كَلِمَةً طَيِّبَةً): The pure and blessed word — the testimony of faith: *Lā ilāha illa Allāh* (There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah).
  • Shajarah Tayyibah (شَجَرَةٍ طَيِّبَةٍ): A good and blessed tree — specifically the date-palm tree, known for its strength, benefit, and beauty.
  • Aṣluhā thābit (أَصْلُهَا ثَابِتٌ): Its root is firmly fixed and deeply anchored in the earth.
  • Far'uhā fī al-samā' (وَفَرْعُهَا فِي السَّمَاءِ): Its branches rise high, reaching toward the sky.

Explanation of the Verse:

O noble Messenger, have you not seen — and has it not become clear to you — how Allah sets forth a magnificent parable for humanity? He compares the pure word of faith, *Lā ilāha illa Allāh* (there is no god but Allah), to a blessed tree — the date-palm. This tree has a root deeply embedded in the earth, drawing nourishment and stability from the soil, while its branches stretch upward into the open sky, receiving light, air, and rain. Just as this tree stands firm and unshaken, bearing sweet and abundant fruit season after season, so too does the word of true faith take root in the heart of the believer. It is firmly established through sincere knowledge and conviction, and when the believer utters it with truthfulness, it ascends to Allah, bringing forth deeds of righteousness and good character as its fruits.

This parable teaches us that faith is not a mere utterance on the tongue — it is a living reality that anchors the soul, elevates the spirit, and produces continuous goodness in a person's life. A believer whose heart is rooted in *Tawḥīd* (the oneness of Allah) remains steadfast in trials, resilient in hardship, and generous in deeds, just as the palm tree remains firm in storms and generous in giving.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, reflect deeply on this beautiful image: a tree that never stops giving, never ceases to stand tall, and never loses its connection to both the earth and the sky. This is the description of a soul nurtured by faith. When you utter *Lā ilāha illa Allāh* with a sincere heart, you plant a seed that grows into a tree of endless blessings — in this life through peace, purpose, and moral excellence, and in the Hereafter through eternal gardens beneath which rivers flow. Allah invites you today to plant this tree in your heart. Let its roots be your certainty, its trunk your devotion, and its branches your good deeds reaching toward the heavens. The more you nourish it with remembrance, prayer, and sincerity, the more its shade will protect you on the Day when there will be no shade but His. This is the gift of faith — a gift that transforms your present and secures your future. Embrace it, and let your life bear fruit for yourself and for all those around you.

📜 Verse 22-26 — Ibrahim

And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, "Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment."
And those who believed and did righteous deeds will be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein by permission of their Lord; and their greeting therein will be, "Peace!"
Have you not considered how Allah presents an example, [making] a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky?
It produces its fruit all the time, by permission of its Lord. And Allah presents examples for the people that perhaps they will be reminded.
And the example of a bad word is like a bad tree, uprooted from the surface of the earth, not having any stability.
