Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- تَقَلُّبِهِمْ — Their movement and coming and going, whether in travel, trade, or daily occupations.
- بِمُعْجِزِينَ — Those who can escape or frustrate Allah's power; those who can render Him incapable of reaching them.
Tafsir (Explanation):
After mentioning the punishment of Khosrow (the earth swallowing Qarun) and the threat of punishment coming from where they least expect it, Allah continues to warn those who plot evil and reject His signs: Are they so secure that He will not seize them while they move about freely in their journeys, their trade, and their daily pursuits? They go from place to place, from one business to another, feeling safe and self-assured, as if their very movement and activity were a shield against divine justice. But Allah makes it clear: they are not beyond His reach. No matter where they turn, no matter how fast they run, no matter how clever their schemes, they cannot escape His grasp. He is the All-Powerful, and His command is absolute. Their constant motion does not tire Him, nor does their distance from Him make them hidden. He knows every step they take, every breath they draw, and every plan they devise.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a profound reminder for every soul — not just for the disbelievers, but for all of us. How often do we feel secure in our routines, our travels, our business deals, and our daily lives, as if we are in control? We plan, we move, we strive, and we sometimes forget that the One who gave us the ability to move and plan is watching over us at every moment. The message here is twofold: a warning to those who persist in wrongdoing, and an invitation to all to turn back to Allah before it is too late. If you are alive and moving today, it is not because you are safe from Allah's justice — it is because His mercy is giving you time to repent. Do not mistake His patience for His absence. He is closer to you than your own jugular vein. So seize this moment, before your movement stops, and return to Him with a sincere heart. His door is open, His mercy is vast, and His forgiveness is greater than your sins.
