Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "Narithuhu" (we inherit from him): Means that Allah takes away and transfers whatever the person possesses, leaving him with nothing.
- "Ma yaqul" (what he says): Refers to the wealth, children, and worldly power that the disbeliever boasts about and claims he will be given in the Hereafter.
- "Fardan" (alone): Coming to Allah on the Day of Judgment by himself, stripped of all family, wealth, and status.
Tafsir (Explanation):
In this verse, Allah addresses the arrogant disbelievers who proudly proclaim that they will be given even more wealth and children in the afterlife, believing their worldly blessings are a sign of divine favor. Allah responds by declaring that He will inherit from them everything they boast about—their riches, their offspring, and their influence—by bringing about their destruction and transferring these possessions to others. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, they will come before their Lord completely alone, stripped of every comfort and support they once relied upon. No wealth will accompany them, no children will intercede for them, and no status will shield them. They will stand solitary and bare, facing the full weight of divine justice.
Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul: the treasures of this world—no matter how abundant—are merely loans that will be reclaimed, and the only thing that truly accompanies us to the Hereafter is our deeds. How often do we see people pride themselves on their bank accounts, their families, or their titles, forgetting that all of this is temporary? The Quran invites us to redirect our focus toward what genuinely benefits us in the eternal life: sincere faith, righteous actions, and a heart attached to its Creator. Let this verse be a gentle reminder that true success lies not in accumulating the fleeting, but in preparing for the moment we stand alone before Allah—for on that day, only our relationship with Him will speak for us. Embrace this truth now, and turn every blessing you possess into a means of drawing closer to Allah, so that when you meet Him, you do so not as one bereft, but as one enriched with good deeds.
