Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • "نَذْكُرَكَ" — "We remember You" or "We mention You": This refers to the act of remembering Allah through glorification, praise, supplication, and the recitation of His words. It encompasses all forms of dhikr (remembrance of Allah).
  • "كَثِيرًا" — "Much" or "abundantly": This indicates frequency, continuity, and sincerity in remembrance, without limit or interruption.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) continues his heartfelt supplication to his Lord, saying: "And that we may remember You abundantly." This is part of a longer prayer in which Musa asks Allah to expand his chest, ease his task, loosen the knot of his tongue so that people may understand his speech, and to grant him a helper from his family — his brother Harun (Aaron) — to strengthen him and share the burden of the prophetic mission.

The meaning of this particular phrase is that Musa seeks the help of his brother Harun in the mission of calling people to Allah, so that together they may glorify Allah frequently, praise Him, and remember Him abundantly — in every moment, in every situation, and in every act of worship. This remembrance is not merely verbal; it is a state of the heart that manifests in actions, in patience, in gratitude, and in unwavering devotion to Allah's cause.

The verse highlights that the ultimate purpose of Musa's request for assistance and ease was not personal comfort or status, but rather the ability to remember Allah more and more. This teaches us that all our efforts, struggles, and achievements in life should be directed toward increasing our connection with Allah and spreading His message.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, reflect on the beautiful humility of Prophet Musa — a mighty prophet of Allah — who asked his Lord for help not for worldly gain, but so that he and his brother could remember Allah abundantly. This teaches us a profound lesson: that the noblest goal a person can aspire to is the constant remembrance of Allah. When we remember Allah in our hearts, on our tongues, and through our actions, we find peace, purpose, and strength. The Quran says: "Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest" (Ar-Ra'd 13:28). So let us strive to make dhikr a part of our daily lives — in the morning and evening, in times of ease and hardship, in solitude and in company. For the one who remembers Allah much is loved by Allah, and the angels bear witness to his sincerity. Let the example of Musa inspire you to seek Allah's help in all your affairs, and to make the remembrance of your Lord the very essence of your existence. Islam is not merely a set of rituals; it is a living, breathing connection with the Creator — and that connection is nurtured through abundant remembrance.
