Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Nāfilah (نَافِلَةً): An additional gift, a bonus, or an extra blessing beyond what was asked for. It signifies something given in excess of the original request.
- Ṣāliḥīn (صَالِحِينَ): Righteous, morally upright, obedient to Allah, and devoted to His worship.
Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse is a beautiful continuation of the story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham, peace be upon him), highlighting Allah’s immense generosity and His response to the sincere prayers of His beloved prophet. After Ibrahim supplicated to his Lord, saying, "My Lord, grant me a righteous child" (as mentioned in Surah As-Saffat), Allah answered his call and blessed him with a son, Ishaq (Isaac, peace be upon him). But Allah’s grace did not stop there—He went beyond Ibrahim’s request and granted him an additional gift: a grandson, Ya‘qub (Jacob, peace be upon him), from Ishaq. This "nāfilah" (extra blessing) shows that when a believer turns to Allah with a pure heart and sincere faith, Allah does not merely fulfill their needs—He overwhelms them with more than they could ever imagine.
Furthermore, Allah made all three of them—Ibrahim, Ishaq, and Ya‘qub—righteous and pious servants. They were not just prophets; they were models of obedience, patience, and unwavering devotion to Allah. Their righteousness was not accidental but was a divine gift combined with their own sincere efforts to worship and obey Allah in every aspect of their lives. This verse reminds us that true success lies not in worldly wealth or status, but in being among the righteous—those who live their lives in submission to Allah and strive to please Him in all they do.
A Da‘wah Reflection:
Beloved reader, look at how Allah rewards His faithful servants! When Ibrahim (peace be upon him) placed his trust in Allah and prayed with a pure heart, Allah gave him not only what he asked for but also an extra blessing—a legacy of righteous descendants who would carry the message of monotheism for generations. This teaches us a profound lesson: never underestimate the power of sincere supplication. When you call upon Allah, know that He is the Most Generous (Al-Karim), and His giving knows no bounds. He may answer your prayer, and then add to it blessings you never even thought to request.
So, turn to Allah with confidence, just as Ibrahim did. Ask Him for goodness in this life and the Hereafter, and strive to be among the righteous—those who pray, give charity, treat others with kindness, and uphold justice. Remember, Allah’s love for the righteous is immense, and He never lets their efforts go to waste. Let this verse inspire you to strengthen your relationship with Allah, to be patient in trials, and to always hope for His boundless mercy. Indeed, the path of righteousness leads to peace, contentment, and eternal success—both in this world and the next.
