Key Words and Phrases:

  • Najjaynāhu (وَنَجَّيْنَاهُ): We saved/rescued him (Ibrahim) from the fire and from the persecution of his people.
  • Lūṭan (وَلُوطًا): Prophet Lot (Lut), peace be upon him, who was Ibrahim's nephew and a believer in his message.
  • Al-Arḍ allatī bāraknā fīhā (الأَرْضِ الَّتِي بَارَكْنَا فِيهَا): The blessed land — referring to the region of Ash-Shām (Greater Syria, encompassing modern-day Syria, Palestine, Lebanon, and Jordan).
  • Lil-ʿĀlamīn (لِلْعَالَمِينَ): For all the worlds/creation — indicating that the blessings of this land extend to all of humanity, not just a specific people.

Explanation of the Verse:

After the fire that the tyrant Nimrod and his people had kindled for Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) was made cool and safe by Allah's command, the Almighty did not leave His beloved servant in that hostile environment. Instead, He granted him a greater honor: rescue and migration to a land overflowing with divine mercy.

Allah says: "And We saved him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds." This verse highlights two profound acts of divine grace. First, Allah rescued Ibrahim from the land of the Babylonians (Iraq), where he had been persecuted, threatened, and thrown into fire for his unwavering monotheism. Second, He brought him together with his nephew, Prophet Lot, who had believed in him and stood by his side through every trial.

The destination was the blessed land of Ash-Shām — a region chosen by Allah for extraordinary favors. Its blessings are manifold: it is a land of abundant fertility, flowing rivers, lush trees, and rich produce. But the greatest blessing is spiritual: this land became the cradle of prophethood, where countless prophets were sent to guide humanity. From this land, the messages of Ibrahim, Lut, Ishaq, Ya'qub, Musa, Dawud, Sulayman, and finally 'Isa (peace be upon them all) radiated to the world. And from its vicinity, the final Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was sent as a mercy to all creation.

This verse teaches us a beautiful lesson: when a believer is tested with hardship, Allah does not abandon them. He opens doors of relief, moves them to better circumstances, and places them in environments where their faith can flourish and their mission can succeed. The migration of Ibrahim was not merely a geographical move — it was a divine strategy to establish a legacy of monotheism that would benefit all of humanity until the end of time.

Dear reader, reflect on how Allah blessed this land for the worlds. Every prophet who walked there, every river that watered it, every fruit that grew in it — all were part of a divine plan to spread guidance and mercy. And just as Allah honored Ibrahim with this blessed land after his trial, He honors His sincere servants with goodness after patience. Trust in Allah's plan, for He knows where your true success lies — even if it means leaving behind what you know, He will grant you something far better.

📜 Verse 69-73 — Al-Anbiya

Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham."
And they intended for him harm, but We made them the greatest losers.
And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds.
And We gave him Isaac and Jacob in addition, and all [of them] We made righteous.
And We made them leaders guiding by Our command. And We inspired to them the doing of good deeds, establishment of prayer, and giving of zakah; and they were worshippers of Us.
