Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • الصَّيْحَةُ (As-Sayhah): The overwhelming, deafening blast or cry—a severe punishment sent from above.
  • غُثَاءً (Ghuthaa’): The scum, foam, or dry debris that floats on the surface of floodwaters—worthless, lifeless remnants.
  • فَبُعْدًا (Fabu’dan): A declaration of being cast far away from all good, mercy, and salvation.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse describes the fate of the arrogant disbelievers who rejected the message of truth brought to them by their prophet. No sooner had they persisted in their stubborn denial and mockery than the divine decree overtook them: a single, terrifying blast—a mighty cry—seized them with absolute justice. It was not a random calamity, but a punishment they had earned through their own wrongdoing and obstinacy. In an instant, their strength, their wealth, and their pride were rendered utterly useless. Allah made them like *ghuthaa’*—the dry, broken twigs and foam carried along by a raging flood, tossed aside and forgotten. They became lifeless debris, devoid of any value or benefit, a sight that strikes the heart with awe.

Then comes the divine pronouncement: *“So away with the wrongdoing people!”* This is both a statement of what befell them and a perpetual curse against all who follow their path. It serves as a timeless warning that no tyrant, no matter how powerful, can escape the grip of Allah when His justice is decreed.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this scene. Those people once walked the earth with confidence, building their lives and mocking the messengers of Allah. Yet, in the blink of an eye, they were reduced to nothing—like foam on a wave. This is not merely a story of the past; it is a living lesson for every generation. The same Allah who seized them is watching over us today. He is patient, giving us time to turn back to Him, but when His decree comes, nothing can stand in its way.

Let this verse awaken your heart. Do not let pride or worldly distractions make you forget your Creator. The path of righteousness is open before you—a path of peace, purpose, and eternal success. Embrace it before the blast comes, and let your life be one of gratitude, humility, and obedience to Allah. For He is the Most Merciful, ever ready to forgive those who return to Him, and His promise of Paradise is far greater than anything this fleeting world can offer.
