Explanation of the Verse:
On that Day of Judgment, when the punishment for those who spread slander and false accusations is carried out, a terrifying and awe-inspiring event will take place: their own tongues, hands, and feet will speak and bear witness against them. The tongues will testify to every word they uttered—lies, backbiting, false accusations, and harmful speech. The hands will testify to every act they committed—every strike, every theft, every harm done to others. The feet will testify to every step they took toward sin, injustice, or transgression. Nothing will be hidden, and no denial will be possible, because the very limbs that once moved freely in disobedience will now speak the absolute truth before their Lord, the All-Knowing, the All-Seeing.
This testimony occurs before their mouths are sealed, as it is reported that after this, their mouths will be closed, and their hands and feet will continue to speak of their deeds. This is a moment of utter exposure and humiliation for the wrongdoers, as they will be confronted with the reality of their actions from the very parts of their bodies they once used in sin. No excuse, no lie, and no defense will avail them on that Day, for Allah, the Just, will establish the truth against them in the most undeniable way.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear believer, let this verse awaken your heart! If your own limbs will testify against you on the Day of Judgment, then how careful must you be with what your tongue says, what your hands do, and where your feet take you? This is not a threat to frighten you away from Allah, but a mercy to guide you back to Him. Imagine standing before your Lord, and your own body speaks the truth—what a moment of honor for the righteous, whose limbs will testify to their prayers, their charity, their kindness, and their striving for good! And what a moment of regret for those who neglected their duties.
So, seize this precious opportunity in your life: guard your tongue with remembrance of Allah, direct your hands toward helping others, and walk with your feet toward the mosques, toward knowledge, and toward goodness. Let your limbs be witnesses for you, not against you. For on that Day, the Most Merciful will not need external witnesses—He will make your own body speak, so that justice is served with absolute perfection. Turn to Him now, repent sincerely, and fill your record with deeds that will make your limbs testify to your faith. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful, and He loves those who purify themselves and return to Him.
