Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "Fa'ti bihi" (فَأْتِ بِهِ): "Then bring it" — meaning, produce and present it here.
- "Min al-sādiqīn" (مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ): "Of the truthful" — i.e., among those who are honest in their claims.
Tafsir (Explanation):
When Prophet Musa (Moses, peace be upon him) stood before Pharaoh and called him to the worship of Allah alone, Pharaoh — in his arrogance and stubbornness — demanded proof. He said: "Then bring it, if you are indeed among the truthful." In other words: "If you truly speak the truth and are not a liar, then show me this sign you claim to have from your Lord."
Pharaoh's words carried a tone of mockery and challenge. He was not genuinely seeking guidance; rather, he was trying to belittle Musa and his message. Yet, in his very demand, there was an implicit acknowledgment that Musa might have something real — for why would a king bother to ask for proof unless he sensed the weight of the truth before him?
This verse teaches us a profound lesson: the truth always has evidence, and those who call to Allah must be prepared to present clear proofs. Musa did not hesitate or waver; he was ready to demonstrate the power of Allah. The believer's confidence comes not from personal ability, but from certainty in Allah's support.
Notice also how Pharaoh conditioned his response — "if you are truthful" — as if truthfulness were in doubt. But the believer knows that Allah's signs are undeniable. When truth is presented with sincerity and backed by divine power, no challenge can stand against it.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This scene reminds us that when we invite others to Islam, we should do so with knowledge, wisdom, and clear evidence — just as Musa was commanded. And when we face mockery or challenges, we should remain steadfast, knowing that Allah will support His messengers and His truth. The Qur'an is itself the greatest sign and miracle — a living proof that continues to challenge humanity to this day. Let us hold firmly to it, and present it with confidence and love, for it is the light that guides to every good.
