Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Shahīdan (شَهِيدًا): A witness who testifies with full knowledge and certainty.
  • Al-Bāṭil (الْبَاطِل): Everything false that is worshipped or followed besides Allah — idols, false deities, or any belief contrary to the truth.
  • Al-Khāsirūn (الْخَاسِرُونَ): Those who have lost everything of value — in this life and the Hereafter — by trading away true faith for falsehood.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O Prophet, say to those who reject the message and demand proofs beyond what has already been shown: "Allah alone is sufficient as a Witness between me and you." He testifies to my truthfulness in conveying His revelation, and He testifies to your denial and rejection of the truth that has come to you. His testimony is perfect and absolute, for He knows all that exists in the heavens and all that exists on the earth — nothing is hidden from His knowledge, not the secrets of hearts, not the whispers of souls, and not the deeds done in darkness or in light.

Then comes a decisive statement about the fate of those who, despite these clear signs and undeniable proofs, choose to believe in falsehood — whether idols, fabricated doctrines, or any object of worship besides Allah — and disbelieve in Allah, the Only One worthy of worship. Such people are the true losers. Their loss is not a minor one; it is a complete and total loss in this world and the Hereafter. They have exchanged the eternal bliss of Paradise for the fleeting illusions of this world, and they have traded the light of faith for the darkness of disbelief.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul. Allah, the All-Knowing, is the ultimate Witness over all matters — nothing escapes His sight. When you stand firm upon the truth, you need not worry about those who reject you or plot against you, for Allah's testimony is sufficient. He sees your sincerity, and He sees their denial.

And what a tragic loss it is for those who, with open eyes and clear proofs, still choose falsehood over truth! They lose their peace in this life, their hope in the Hereafter, and their very souls. But the door of mercy remains open — whoever turns back to Allah, even after falling into disbelief, will find Him Forgiving and Merciful. Do not be among the losers; be among those who witness the truth with their hearts, act upon it with their limbs, and find in Allah the most sufficient Witness and the most loving Guardian. The Qur'an is the clear path — walk it, and you will never be lost.

📜 Verse 50-54 — Al-'Ankabut

But they say, "Why are not signs sent down to him from his Lord?" Say, "The signs are only with Allah, and I am only a clear warner."
And is it not sufficient for them that We revealed to you the Book which is recited to them? Indeed in that is a mercy and reminder for a people who believe.
Say, "Sufficient is Allah between me and you as Witness. He knows what is in the heavens and earth. And they who have believed in falsehood and disbelieved in Allah - it is those who are the losers."
And they urge you to hasten the punishment. And if not for [the decree of] a specified term, punishment would have reached them. But it will surely come to them suddenly while they perceive not.
They urge you to hasten the punishment. And indeed, Hell will be encompassing of the disbelievers
