Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Natlūhu (نَتْلُوهُ): We recite it, convey it, and communicate it to you.
- Al-Āyāt (الْآيَاتِ): Clear signs, miracles, and evident proofs.
- Al-Dhikr al-Ḥakīm (الذِّكْرِ الْحَكِيمِ): The Wise Reminder — the Qur’an, which is precise, firmly established, and immune to falsehood or contradiction.
Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse addresses the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ directly, reassuring him and his followers that everything mentioned earlier regarding the story of Jesus (ʿĪsā), his mother Maryam (Mary), and the disciples is not mere legend or speculation. Rather, it is part of the divine revelation that Allah conveys to him through the Angel Gabriel. The phrase "that which We recite to you" refers to the truthful accounts that serve as clear signs — evidence of Allah’s power, the truthfulness of His messengers, and the authenticity of the message brought by Muhammad ﷺ.
These accounts are drawn from "the Wise Reminder" — the Qur’an itself — which is described as "ḥakīm" (wise) because it is precise in its rulings, profound in its wisdom, and protected from any corruption, distortion, or falsehood. It distinguishes between truth and falsehood, and it stands as a living miracle that challenges all of humanity to produce anything like it, yet they cannot.
The verse carries a profound lesson: the stories of the past are not mere historical narratives; they are signs for reflection and guidance. They affirm that Allah’s promise is true, that His help is near, and that the truth will always prevail over falsehood. For the believer, this is a source of immense comfort and strength — knowing that the Qur’an is not a human invention but a divine revelation, preserved and guarded by Allah Himself.
Daʿwah (Call to Allah):
O reader! Reflect on this verse and let it fill your heart with certainty. The Qur’an you hold in your hands today is the same Wise Reminder that Allah revealed to His Prophet ﷺ — unchanged, unaltered, and protected for over fourteen centuries. Every story, every promise, and every warning within it is true. So why not turn to it as your guide? Why not let it illuminate your path, just as it illuminated the hearts of the early Muslims who changed the course of history? This is your invitation to embrace the light of revelation — a light that never fades and a wisdom that never fails. Open your heart to it, and you will find peace, purpose, and the ultimate success in this life and the Hereafter.
