📖 English Meaning
Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, "Be," and he was.

Word Meanings:

  • Mathal (مَثَل): Likeness, similitude, or striking example.
  • Khalaqahu (خَلَقَهُ): He created him; fashioned him.
  • Turab (تُرَاب): Dust, earth, or soil.
  • Kun fayakun (كُن فَيَكُونُ): "Be," and it becomes — a divine command that brings something into existence instantaneously.

Explanation of the Verse:

In this profound verse, Allah addresses a misconception held by some about Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him). Some claimed that because Jesus was born without a father, he must be divine or the son of God. Allah refutes this by drawing a powerful analogy: the creation of Jesus is like the creation of Adam (peace be upon him). Adam was created from dust — without a father and without a mother — and Allah simply said to him, "Be," and he was.

If the miraculous nature of Jesus's birth — being born from a virgin mother without a father — were proof of divinity, then Adam would be even more deserving of that claim, for he had neither father nor mother. Yet all people, including those who made this claim, unanimously agree that Adam was a mere servant of Allah, a human being created by His will. So why would they elevate Jesus to divinity for a lesser miracle while acknowledging Adam's humanity for a greater one?

The logic is clear: both are creations of Allah, brought into existence by His infinite power and will. The command "Be" is sufficient for Allah to create whatever He wishes, whenever He wishes, without any need for a physical cause or process. This verse establishes the absolute sovereignty of Allah over all creation and affirms the pure humanity of both Jesus and Adam — both honored prophets, but both servants of Allah, never partners in His divinity.

Da'wah Reflection:

This verse is a beautiful invitation to reflect on the majesty of Allah's creative power. He needs no intermediaries, no time, no matter — He merely says "Be," and it is. This same power that created Adam from dust and Jesus in the womb of Mary is available to you today. If Allah can create life from nothing, then He can certainly forgive your sins, answer your prayers, and transform your heart. Do not let doubts hold you back. Come to Islam, the religion that honors all prophets — from Adam to Noah, from Moses to Jesus, and finally to Muhammad (peace be upon them all) — and that calls you to worship the One true God alone, who has power over all things. The miracle of creation is not a reason to deify a creature, but a sign pointing to the Creator who deserves all worship.

📜 Verse 57-61 — Aal-Imran

But as for those who believed and did righteous deeds, He will give them in full their rewards, and Allah does not like the wrongdoers.
This is what We recite to you, [O Muhammad], of [Our] verses and the precise [and wise] message.
Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created Him from dust; then He said to him, "Be," and he was.
The truth is from your Lord, so do not be among the doubters.
Then whoever argues with you about it after [this] knowledge has come to you - say, "Come, let us call our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves, then supplicate earnestly [together] and invoke the curse of Allah upon the liars [among us]."
