Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Phrases:
- "Jāmiʿ al-nās" (جَامِعُ النَّاسِ): The Gatherer of all people; the One who will bring together every human being—past, present, and future—on a single plain.
- "Lā rayba fīh" (لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ): A day in which there is no doubt whatsoever—a day whose coming is absolute certainty.
- "Lā yukhlif al-mīʿād" (لَا يُخْلِفُ الْمِيعَادَ): He does not break His promise; He never fails to fulfill what He has pledged to His servants.
The Tafsir (Explanation):
This verse is the concluding supplication of the people of deep understanding—those whom Allah describes in the preceding verses as reflecting upon the creation of the heavens and the earth. Their hearts are filled with awe and love for their Lord, and they turn to Him with a humble, sincere prayer: *"Our Lord, indeed You are the Gatherer of all people for a Day about which there is no doubt."*
They affirm with complete conviction that Allah—and only Allah—will assemble every single human being, from the first to the last, on the Day of Resurrection. This is not a matter of speculation or wishful thinking; it is an absolute reality. The Day of Judgment is coming, and no one can escape it. The people of understanding do not merely acknowledge this truth intellectually—they let it shape their hearts, their actions, and their priorities in this worldly life.
Then they add: *"Indeed, Allah does not break His promise."* This is a declaration of their unshakable trust in their Lord. Allah has promised that He will raise the dead, gather mankind, and recompense every soul for what it has earned. And because Allah is the Most Truthful, the Most Just, and the Most Merciful, His promise is certain to be fulfilled. He does not fail those who put their hope in Him, nor does He neglect the rights of His servants.
This beautiful supplication teaches us a profound lesson: true faith is not merely a feeling in the heart—it is a living reality that drives us to seek Allah's pleasure in every moment. When we truly believe that we will stand before our Lord on a Day that is inevitable, we begin to live with purpose, accountability, and hope. We strive to do good, avoid evil, and turn to Allah in repentance and gratitude.
And what a comforting thought it is! The same Lord who created us, sustains us, and guides us is the One who will gather us with mercy and justice. He does not forget a single deed—not even the weight of a mustard seed. So let this verse fill your heart with hope and motivation: your efforts are never wasted, your patience is never overlooked, and your Lord's promise is never broken. Stand firm in faith, and let your life be a beautiful preparation for that magnificent meeting with your Creator.
