Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Hudāhā (هُدَاهَا): Guidance, righteousness, and the ability to reach faith.
  • Ḥaqqa al-qawl (حَقَّ الْقَوْلُ): The word became due and obligatory — referring to the divine decree and promise of punishment.
  • Al-Jinnah (الْجِنَّةِ): Here it means the jinn, specifically the devils among them.
  • Ajmaʿīn (أَجْمَعِينَ): All together, without exception.

Explanation of the Verse:

If Allah had willed, He could have forcibly guided every single soul — compelling all of humanity and jinn to believe, leaving them no choice but to submit. He is fully capable of that; nothing escapes His power. But His divine wisdom required something else: that people be given free will, so that their faith would be a genuine choice, not an imposed reality.

Yet, because of His perfect justice and wisdom, a decree has already been established from Him — a promise that was made long ago, when Iblis (Satan) refused to prostrate to Adam and asked for respite until the Day of Judgment. Allah said to him: *"I will surely fill Hell with you and with those who follow you, all together"* (Surah Sad, 38:85). This word is now binding and true: Hell will be filled with those who chose disbelief and disobedience — from both the jinn and mankind, all together.

This is not because Allah desires evil for His creation, but because these souls — after receiving clear messengers, scriptures, and signs — deliberately chose the path of error over guidance. They were not wronged; they wronged themselves. The filling of Hell is a manifestation of divine justice, not injustice.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, ponder deeply on this verse. It reveals two profound truths: first, that Allah’s mercy is vast — He does not force anyone into belief, but opens the doors of guidance for those who seek it with sincerity. Second, that His justice is absolute — no one will enter Hell except those who, with full awareness and free choice, turned away from His signs and persisted in wrongdoing.

This verse is an invitation to you, right now, to be among those who are guided — not because you were forced, but because you chose the light. Every breath you take is an opportunity to turn back to your Lord, to embrace His mercy before the decree becomes a reality for you. Do not let the whispers of Shaytan deceive you into thinking that guidance is unattainable. Allah says: *"And whoever strives for the Hereafter with the effort due to it while being a believer — those will have their effort rewarded"* (Al-Isra, 17:19). The path is open, the door of repentance is wide, and your Lord is waiting for you with open arms of mercy. Will you not take that step today?

📜 Verse 11-15 — As-Sajdah

Say, "The angel of death will take you who has been entrusted with you. Then to your Lord you will be returned."
If you could but see when the criminals are hanging their heads before their Lord, [saying], "Our Lord, we have seen and heard, so return us [to the world]; we will work righteousness. Indeed, we are [now] certain."
And if We had willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me will come into effect [that] "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and people all together.
So taste [punishment] because you forgot the meeting of this, your Day; indeed, We have [accordingly] forgotten you. And taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do."
Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.
