Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Iftarāhu (افتراه): Fabricated it, invented it, or falsely attributed it to God.
- Nadhīr (نذير): A warner, a messenger who warns people of God's punishment.
- Yah'tadūn (يهتدون): They are guided, meaning they come to the truth and follow it.
Explanation of the Verse:
The disbelievers, in their stubbornness and denial, claim that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) invented the Qur'an himself and attributed it to God. They say: "He made it up!" But this accusation is utterly false and baseless. The Qur'an is not a human fabrication; rather, it is the absolute truth, revealed by your Lord — O Messenger — to you. It carries within it certainty, wisdom, and divine light that no human mind could ever produce.
This Qur'an was sent down for a profound purpose: so that you may warn a people — the Arabs — who had never received a warner before you. They lived in a long period of darkness, with no prophet sent to them between the time of Jesus (peace be upon him) and your mission. They were unaware of God's true message, lost in ignorance and idolatry. Your warning, O Muhammad, is a mercy and a light for them, so that they may awaken from their slumber, recognize the truth, and follow it willingly.
The verse gently invites us to reflect: if this Qur'an were truly from a human being, could it carry such depth, such precision, and such transformative power? No — it is the word of the Creator, sent as a guide for all who seek salvation. The purpose of this revelation is not to burden people but to save them — to lead them from the darkness of disbelief to the brightness of faith, from error to guidance. And whoever responds to this call, their success is guaranteed in this life and the Hereafter.
So, dear reader, let this verse be a reminder: the Qur'an is not a tale to be dismissed but a truth to be embraced. It calls you to your own good, to a life of purpose and peace. Open your heart to it, and you will find that it speaks directly to your soul, guiding you to the path of eternal happiness. The door of guidance is open — will you not enter?
