Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- فَأْتُوا (Bring forth): Produce, present, or come with something as evidence.
- بِكِتَابِكُمْ (Your book): A revealed scripture or written proof that you rely upon as an authority.
- إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ (If you are truthful): If your claim is genuine and you are honest in what you assert.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse is a direct challenge and a decisive call to those who reject the truth and claim that Allah has partners or associates in worship, or who deny the message of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). They are told: If you truly believe that your claims are correct and that you have a divine basis for your stance, then bring your book — the revealed scripture that supports your position. Produce the written proof that backs your assertion, if you are indeed honest in your words.
The challenge is clear and unambiguous: the truth does not hide, and those who claim falsehood are invited to present their evidence. Yet, they cannot, because no such book exists. No revealed scripture from Allah supports their claims, and no divine authority endorses their position. This verse exposes the emptiness of their argument and affirms that the Qur'an alone is the unaltered, preserved word of Allah, carrying the final and complete truth.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse is not merely a historical challenge — it is a timeless invitation for every seeker of truth to examine the evidence. The Qur'an stands as an eternal miracle, unmatched in its eloquence, wisdom, and guidance. No human or jinn can produce a chapter like it, let alone a whole book. So where is the book of those who oppose it? Where is their proof? The absence of any such book is itself a testimony to the truth of Islam.
Dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. Allah does not ask you to follow blindly; He invites you to reason, to reflect, and to seek the truth with sincerity. The Qur'an is the book that has never been altered, the book that answers the deepest questions of the soul, and the book that guides to the path of peace and eternal success. Open your heart to it, and you will find that it is indeed the word of the Creator — a light that no darkness can extinguish, and a proof that no argument can refute. Embrace it, and you will find the peace your soul has always longed for.
