Word Meanings:
- وَتَرَكْنَا (And We left/remained): Meaning We kept and preserved for him.
- عَلَيْهِ (upon him): Referring to Prophet Nuh (Noah), peace be upon him.
- فِي الْآخِرِينَ (among the later generations): Those who came after him from the nations and peoples.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this noble verse, Allah the Almighty tells us about His great favor upon His Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him): that He preserved for him a beautiful remembrance and a praiseworthy reputation among all the nations and peoples that came after him. This means that Allah kept Nuh's name alive with honor and dignity — every generation that followed would mention him with respect, admiration, and gratitude. His story became a timeless lesson of patience, faith, and steadfastness, and his name became synonymous with righteousness and devotion to Allah.
This is not merely about being remembered — it is about being remembered *well*. Allah chose to immortalize Nuh's legacy in the most beautiful way, so that prophets, scholars, and believers throughout history would speak of him with love and reverence. This is a tremendous honor that Allah bestows upon His chosen servants, and it is a promise that the righteous will never be forgotten, even if the world turns against them during their lifetime.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse carries a profound and heartwarming message for every believer: goodness never dies. When you dedicate your life to Allah, when you endure hardship for His sake, and when you remain patient and sincere — Allah Himself takes responsibility for your legacy. You may not see the fruits of your efforts in this world, and people may even mock or reject you, but Allah will preserve your name in the highest ranks and make you a source of inspiration for generations to come.
Just as Allah honored Nuh (peace be upon him) with eternal praise, He honors all His sincere servants in ways that suit their station. So let this verse fill your heart with hope and determination: do not chase after people's approval, but seek Allah's pleasure — for when Allah is pleased with you, He will make the hearts of His righteous servants love you, and He will keep your remembrance pure and beautiful until the end of time. What greater reward could there be than to be mentioned in the heavens and on earth as a beloved servant of Allah?
