Word Meanings:
- Sakhkharna (سَخَّرْنَا): We subjugated and made subservient.
- Rukha'an (رُخَاءً): Gentle, soft, and easy — flowing without harshness or turbulence.
- Haythu asaba (حَيْثُ أَصَابَ): Wherever he intended or aimed to go.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse is a continuation of Prophet Sulayman's (peace be upon him) supplication to his Lord, when he asked for a unique kingdom that no one after him would possess. Allah, in His infinite generosity, responded to this sincere request and granted him extraordinary favors. Among these favors was the subjugation of the wind — a powerful and mighty force of nature — which became completely obedient to Sulayman's command. It would carry him and his forces swiftly and smoothly to any destination he desired, moving gently and softly despite its immense strength. The wind did not resist him, nor did it cause discomfort; rather, it flowed with ease and precision, taking him wherever he willed — whether near or far. This was a clear sign of Allah's absolute power and His special favor upon His righteous servant.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse teaches us a profound lesson about the power of sincere supplication and trust in Allah. When Sulayman (peace be upon him) turned to his Lord with humility and repentance, Allah not only forgave him but also granted him a kingdom beyond imagination — one that even the forces of nature obeyed. This shows us that no matter how great our past mistakes may be, sincere repentance opens the doors of divine mercy and generosity. Allah is Al-Wahhab (The Supreme Bestower) — He loves to give, and He delights in answering the prayers of His servants who turn to Him with a pure heart. Let this inspire you to strengthen your connection with Allah through du'a (supplication), for He is capable of granting you what you cannot even imagine — just as He granted Sulayman control over the wind itself. The same Allah who subjugated the wind for His prophet is alive and capable today, ready to answer the call of those who call upon Him with sincerity and hope.
