Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Darabnā (ضربنا): We have set forth, presented, or given as an example.
- Mathal (مثل): A parable, similitude, or illustrative example.
- Yatadhakkarūn (يتذكرون): They may remember, take heed, or be reminded.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, declares that He has set forth in this magnificent Qur'an every kind of parable and example for humanity. These parables encompass all aspects of life—good and evil, truth and falsehood, faith and disbelief, the stories of past nations, and the consequences of their actions. The purpose is not merely to narrate stories, but to draw striking comparisons that illuminate the path of guidance and warn against the paths of destruction.
These examples are presented in the clearest and most eloquent Arabic, free from any ambiguity or deviation, so that people of sound intellect may reflect upon them. Through these vivid illustrations, Allah makes abstract truths tangible and distant realities near, allowing the heart to grasp profound lessons with ease. The Qur'an addresses all people, but particularly those who have turned away from the truth, using these parables as a means of admonition and a call to awaken their consciousness.
The ultimate goal is that humanity may remember—that they may pause, reflect, and realize the futility of their false beliefs and the wisdom of submitting to their Creator. When a person truly contemplates these examples, they see the fate of those who rejected the truth and the success of those who embraced it. This remembrance leads to a change of heart, turning away from disbelief and toward obedience to Allah, fulfilling His commands and avoiding His prohibitions.
A Call to Reflection:
Dear reader, the Qur'an is not a book of mere stories—it is a living guide, filled with examples tailored to every situation you may face in life. Every parable is a mirror showing you the path to success and warning you of the pitfalls of failure. Allah has made His message accessible and clear, so that no one has an excuse to remain heedless. Open your heart to these divine examples, let them penetrate your soul, and you will find in them the light that illuminates your way to eternal happiness. The Qur'an speaks to you personally—will you listen?
